The Netherlands ratified the Geneva Protocol on 31 October 1930. 4. The Geneva Protocol of 1925 prohibited the use of chemical weapons and biological weapons. 5. Discussions in the CCD played a role in the interpretation of the Geneva Protocol . 6. Treaties that followed the Geneva Protocol did address those omissions and have been enacted. 7. The Geneva Protocol prohibits use but not possession or development of chemical and biological weapons. 8. Germ warfare, outlawed by a 1925 Geneva Protocol , has never been used in modern combat. 9. France had also ratified the Geneva Protocol in 1926. 10. Japan was a signatory on the 1925 Geneva Protocol which banned the use of chemical warfare.
